On 26th April, 2019, the Minister of State for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination (NHSR&C), visited National Institute of Health (NIH). Captain (r) Zahid Saeed, Secretary NHSR&C and Dr. Asad Hafeez, Director General Health were also present on this occasion.
Executive Director (ED) of NIH, Maj. Gen. Prof. Aamer Ikram briefed to the Minster about the role of NIH in prevention and control of different diseases in Pakistan. He also highlighted the number of developments in NIH.
During his visit to the NIH, the State Minister said that they are committed to improving the health sector as per the vision of the prime minister and massive reforms are needed in this regard. He said that the NIH is providing best services as per nation’s expectations and reforms were already underway to bring the institute on par with international standard.Dr Mirza said that the NIH was playing a vital role in helping to contain contagious diseases. He said that measures were being taken to further improve research and vaccine-manufacturing at the NIH.
Later on, Federal Minister along with senior officers of the institute took round to the different departments including Emergency Operation Cell.
