Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Interior Senator A. Rehman Malik had taken Suo-Moto notice of the worsening health condition of former President Asif Ali Zardari and his non-shifting to hospital despite of medical board advice. The notice by Committee was issued on 26thAugust, 2019 directing the Home Secretary Punjab to submit a report to the committee on the non-shifting of Mr. Asif Ali Zardari to hospital despite of medical board advise which he termed as the violation of Jail Manuals. In this regard, a report on the Suo-Moto notice was received from Inspector General of Prisons Punjab on 18th September 2019 on which after thorough examination, the Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Interior Senator A. Rehman Malik has expressed hisdissatisfaction and was conveyed to the authorities vide another notice on 17th October, 2019. In his letter, he has directed the Home Secretary Punjab and Inspector General Prisons to immediately shift Mr. Asif Ali Zardari to a well-equipped government hospital for his complete medical checkup by a high powered medical board to examine him for diabetic status, heart condition and overall physical condition.
Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Interior has appreciated the jail authorities for shifting Former President Asif Ali Zardari to PIMS where he is under going the medical tests. The committee meanwhile, in response of 17th October, 2019 noticehas received another report on 23rd October, 2019 from Superintendent Central Jail (Adiala) Rawalpindi titled “Suo moto notice by Senator A. Rehman Malik regarding non-provision of proper medical facilities to former President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari” with a medical report by Medical Officer of the jail wherein the health condition of Mr. Asif Ali Zardari is explained in detail which Senator A. Rehman Malik termed as very worrying.
Senator A. Rehman Malik said that according to media reports there is blood clot in the middle of the heart of the former President Asif Ali Zardari which can prove highly dangerous if it is not traded with utmost care using modern medical technology. While expressing his worriers on the blood clot in heart he said that is like living volcano in body of Asif Ali Zardari and it should not be ignored butshould be treat on urgent basis.
Chairman SSC on Interior Senator A. Rehman Malik has again directed all the concerned officials to submit a detail report to the committee on the the blood clot and blocked of his heart valves. He said that the mean time committee may hear the medical board directly about health condition of Asif Ali Zardari adding that it is is the basic duly of SuperintendentJail to ensure his health and medical treatment as per the jail manual the Jail Superintendent will be held responsible for any lapse in his treatment while in jail custody. He said that the matter and other issues related to jail manual and the condition of the jai, violation of jails space and sexual assault case of young boy will be taken up.
