Islamabad: MUSLIM Institute organized a webinar “Accession Day of Junagadh.”Amongst distinguished speaker were Nawab of Junagadh Nawab Jahangir Khanji, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Mr. Ali Muhammad Khan, Sahibzada Sultan Ahmed Ali, Brig (R) Dr. Saif ur Rahman Malik, Brig (R) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Khan, Air Commodore (R) Khalid Iqbal. Speakers observed thatState of Junagadh legally acceded to Pakistan in 1947 on September 15. Nawab of Junagadh signed the instrument of accession with Quaid-e-Azam according to the wishes of the people of Junagadh.
But India forcefully occupied the Junagadh like Kashmir. According to the international law Junagadh is part of Pakistan. The claim of Pakistan on Junagadh remains intact until the Instrument of accession is intact. Despite having legal claim on Junagadh, the issue started fading away just after two decades of the inception of Pakistan. Recent government has owned this issue and once again put the map of Junagadh back on the official map of Pakistan. By putting back Junagadh on the official Map of Pakistan is a highly commendable step and Pakistan is committed to the cause of the Junagadh. Pakistani nation doesn’t forget the issues of national integrity and Pakistan will do its best to claim its territory.Speakers hoped that when the next UN General Assembly session takes place, their articulations will reach the government quarters and they will be able to take a firm stance on the state of Junagadh. We need multidisciplinary struggle for Junagadh. We still need a lot of efforts on Junagadh issue. By utilizing our vibrant Diplomatic channels there is need to highlight the issue of Kashmir and Junagadh simultaneously on all relevant forums. Pakistan is the advocate of Junagadh issue and it will continue to fight this case as Pakistan has the legal and just claim on Junagadh. Our academia must come forward and contribute in terms of research on this issue and all this research should be placed on internet so that everyone should know about the issue. It will help a great deal in making the issue a burning question in front of international community. We need to revive the provisional government of Junagadh and its recognition by Pakistan and by some other foreign countries. Nawab of Junagadhcan chart out a plan for moving to International Court of Justice over this issue. It is a long struggle, however, consistence patience is required and all the participants, all the disciples and all the struggles need to be mobilized for a just solution for the issue of Junagadh.
